John’s love of music began during his schooldays studying violin and piano. He was a founder member of the City of Birmingham Schools Orchestra whilst moonlighting in various rock and pop bands round the west midlands. Having a “proper job” during the day he continued with the rock and pop at night until he began playing jazz in local big bands and jazz groups along with some residency work in city centre hotels. He has studied jazz composition and performance at Birmingham University and is currently pursuing a General Music Diploma. He plays 6 string fretted and fretless bass and also double bass.
